Continental claims that the water consumption and energy consumption per ton of tires produced by its tire business are 55% and 17% lower than the industry average respectively. The goal is to save another 20% in each case by 2030. Similarly, Continental's solar photovoltaic power station at its tire factory in Hefei, Anhui, was expanded in June 2020. It can generate approximately 13 million kilowatt-hours of green energy each year, which is equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 12,000 tons per year.
