On November 8, Dr. Wang Jun of Colgate Palmolive introduced the development process of the recyclable toothpaste tube of Colgate Palmolive and how to obtain the recognition of American Plastics Recycling Association (APR) at 2019 China International Plastic Recycling Exhibition.
Dr. Wang Jun introduced that since 2014, Colgate Palmolive began to research and develop HDPE laminates of different grades and thicknesses into tubes that meet the recycling standards. It took more than five years for the whole development process to protect the products and bear the demand of high-speed production and maintain the extrudability.
In the end, the recyclable toothpaste tube developed by Colgate Palmolive was approved by APR. Currently, the first test product has been launched in the United States, and the toothpaste tube conversion is expected to be completed by the end of next year. This kind of innovation case is a very meaningful attempt to promote the closed-loop construction of plastics. At the same time, such innovations also benefit from APR's detailed plastic recycling guidelines, which point the way for the design of recyclable plastics.
