Lincoln Continental uses plant composites developed by Celanese and International Paper to make automotive interiors that can reduce weight by at least 25% for each component and significantly reduce costs.
In addition, the solution can reduce 20-40% of time loss and a large amount of energy consumption, reducing emissions of about 14 million kg of CO2.
The 2018 Lincoln continental central console body is made by injection molding of this sustainable plant composite material with the existing mold unchanged. The finished product can also meet the requirements of dimensional stability and component performance.
The material was recently awarded the "Environmental Protection Award for Sustainable Materials in Automotive Industry" at the 2018 American Society of Plastic Engineers (SPE) automotive innovation awards.
